As I write this It's raining. And I like that. I've excitedly shared photos of it raining on social media in the past. What is it about the rain that is just so...nice? This rainy morning has inspired me to explore this a little.
For starters it's cleansing. So much water falling from the sky washes the energy field of our immediate environment. Our homes, our roads, our parks, our towns are washed with the healing power of water. This is like an aura bath. It's the same as when you shower to clean off the busyness of your day. We feel renewed when we are bathed in water. It carries away the debris from our energy field. The rain brings a cleaner vibe to our environment.
Next, it sounds so nice! Pitter patter, pitter patter in a soothing, steady rhythm; or the louder, more exciting drumming of heavier rain. The consistent sound of rain is excellent for concentration. This makes it ideal for writing, reading, journaling and meditating. And did you know, it is also a sound that helps those of us with insomnia. Some people even use pre recorded rain music to help them go to sleep.
Rain also gives us permission to be indoors. It can be a time to snuggle and cosy up, cook or to laze with your kids and pets.
Movies feel better when it's raining. I find I relax easier when the soothing water is coming down from the sky. I even enjoy a walk in the rain, it cleanses my energy field too.
And here is something else, when we are becoming weary of rain going on for too many days we become renewed in our gratitude for the blue sky, the sun and being in amongst our natural environment.
Let's embrace the healing vibe of the lovely rain.
wishing you rain gratitude
Ps Special rain love to my son Rain who also really likes his namesake.
Our lives have many losses to grieve. I recently attended a sudden family funeral. My mind is very much on grieving. It's a feeling I am familiar. I've had many losses.
We might think of the grieving process as being about losing someone close to us, yet as well as that pain we also have many feelings to process around losing other things that we may not be aware we grieve.
Grief is a valid process when we let go of a dream, leave a home or country we love, a relationship we craved that never happened or the baby we didn't have.
I see many people holding deeply buried sadness and anger they are unaware of.
Being with our feelings takes presence, awareness and courage. These feelings are simply energy wanting to move. When we hold them in our body we use precious life force energy to contain them. It is tiring. It can bring physical pain if left too long. It can also eat away at our cellular tissue.
Addictions are things we use to avoid being with distressing feelings. Before you get your comfort food or find another job to do or another thing you must think about (Being busy and over thinking are addictions too) pause and breathe. What's happening in my body? How am I feeling? Breathe to the discomfort. This simple act allows feelings to begin moving. Resist your mind chatter. Get support if you need to.
Grief is about acknowledgment, acceptance, allowing and surrendering to the process. Slow down and allow the feelings to flow. If you do these things you will move forward graciously.
Feeling your sadness and processing your losses brings freedom from pain and distress. A happier and healthier you is the outcome.
